Regional Economic Bulletin: Southeast, Third Quarter of 2023

The Regional Economic Bulletin (BER) is a quarterly publication produced since 2003, whose purpose is to provide the economic agents and the general public with periodic, reliable, and timely information on the evolution of the main variables of the economic activity in the regions of the country, following the own classification of Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia).
The southeastern economy showed a fall in the annual comparative in most of its activities during the third quarter of 2023. There were declines in construction activity indicators such as approved and in-process areas, new housing sales, and gray cement shipments. In the livestock sector, there was a reduction in cattle slaughtering, along with pork production. As for commercial activity, there was a fall in vehicle and motorcycle registrations, while in air transportation there was a drop in the amount of cargo moved. In contrast, the agricultural sector showed progress in supply, particularly in the volume of processed palm fruit oil. Sales perceptions also increased in commerce, and passenger departures also did in air transportation. Exports and imports registered decreases. Finally, inflation in Villavicencio decreased, while the unemployment rate exceeded that of a year ago.
