Does Banco de la República exchange old Banknotes?
Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia) receives and exchanges all the national banknotes and coins it has put into circulation. To do so, you can go to the cash windows located in the country's main cities, as detailed in the bank’s institutional site www.banrep.gov.co in the option, ‘Directory of Bogotá, Branches, and Cultural Centers (only in Spanish),’ where you can also find the contact telephone numbers and opening hours.
As for the calculation of banknotes or coins, regardless of the year of issue or mintage, you simply have to multiply the number of pieces of each denomination by their face value, either in cents or pesos. Banco de la República, as well as other banking entities, shall exchange them for the value at which they were put into circulation.
If you consider that some of these monetary species have numismatic value due to their design or age, we suggest that you investigate through numismatic houses, which you can consult online.
