Results of the Survey on the Perception of the Use of Instruments for Retail Payments in Colombia - 2013

In order to quantify consumer preferences for making payments with cash, checks, and bank cards as well as their acceptance by merchants, the Financial Infrastructure Oversight Department (DSIF) of Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia) designed a set of questions to quantify the recent use of payment instruments in Colombia.

This survey is a first attempt to describe the public’s preferences for payment instruments to settle their transactions based on their perception (opinion). Therefore, the reported results cannot be considered precise figures regarding the way in which consumers and merchants finalize their transactions.
