José Antonio Ocampo was named senior advisor of The Global Deal

José Antonio Ocampo, co-director of Banco de la República, was appointed as one of the seven senior advisors of The Global Deal, an initiative of the Swedish Government and the International Labour Organization (ILO) that promotes social dialogue to achieve quality jobs and advances in global inclusion.

 

Ocampo, a prominent Colombian economist and professor of the most prestigious universities in the United States, has been a member of the Board of Directors of Banco de la República since May of this year.

 

The co-director of the Central Bank shares the position of senior advisor with peers of other nationalities who are recognized for their leadership and experience in the public and private sectors of their respective countries, as well as for their definitive contributions to centers of economic and social thought. With this recent appointment, Ocampo´s mission will be to provide strategic advice and participate in the preparation of a global report.

 

In this group, advisors like Oliver Blanchard, former chief economist of the International Monetary Fund (IMF); Jason Furman who served as chief economist for President Obama; Sharan Burrow, General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), among others, stand out.
