Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia) obtains a profit of COP 10,041 billion in 2024
In its session today, the Board of Directors approved Banco de la República's (the Central Bank of Colombia) financial statements for the 2024 fiscal year. The Auditor General for the Bank and KPMG S.A.S., the external audit firm, issued an unqualified opinion on these statements. Prior to this, the Financial Superintendency of Colombia had authorized their submission to the Board for consideration.
In 2024, Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia) a reported a profit of COP 10,041 billion, primarily resulting from returns on international reserves amounting to COP 9,340 billion recognized in its income statement.
According to the Bank's legal framework, after deducting net investments in assets for cultural activity and appropriating statutory reserves, the remaining profits are transferred to the Nation. Considering the 2024 results, the Board of Directors has approved the transfer of COP 10,031 billion to the National Government. This distribution will be made in cash, denominated in Colombian pesos, in line with paragraph e) of Article 27 of Law 31 of 1992 and Article 28 of Decree 1523 of 2024. This operation aligns with the Bank's projected monetary management.
