False news about Banco de la República’s alleged endorsement of virtual crypto-asset platforms

The Central Bank shall denounce these incidents before the competent criminal and supervisory authorities, and will pursue all appropriate legal actions

Banco de la República informs that fake news are circulating on the Internet stating that the Governor of the Central Bank would be planning to invest and would have inaugurated and endorsed the use of digital platforms such as ‘Bitcoin Time’ and ‘Bitcoin Loophople,’ through which participation in the digital asset market is allegedly made possible by through several hyperlinks that would allow access to said platforms.

As reported on the Central Bank’s social networks (Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn), these are false news that could be used to mislead the citizenry, and in no case correspond to statements by the Governor, nor do they reflect Banco de la República's institutional stance.

The Bank shall denounce these incidents before the competent criminal and supervisory authorities, and will pursue all appropriate legal actions to ensure the truthfulness of the information and the protection of its good name.
