Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia) makes available to the visitors of its website the new Economic Statistics Site, designed to enhance user experience by making it more dynamic, functional, and inclusive. This new site has been designed to serve the diverse profiles of users who consult data and historical series and require tools to consolidate or analyze statistical information.

This new site aims to strengthen knowledge generation and research, as well as to ease the dissemination and access to Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia) economic statistics through various formats and interactive tools, all available in one place.  

The site has six information sections, organized as follows: 

1. Economic Statistics Series

This section provides access to chronologically organized statistics over specific time intervals.  The time series consultation service includes four features: 

  • Catalog: Quick consultation of data published by the Bank and a list of available statistics.  
  • Interactive Charting Tool: Designed for users who prefer to visualize data graphically.  
  • Pre-built Tables: Tabular summaries that allow quick consultation of information on the same topics.  
  • Series Finder: Allows users to locate historical variables across various topics and dates. 

2. Statistics Publication Calendar

This resource provides the Bank’s publication dates of statistical and financial data and upcoming releases.

It is an interactive calendar that enables tracking of publications and updates of relevant statistical data. 

3. Surveys and Expectations/Bulletins

This section compiles information from surveys and economic analysts’ expectations. The bulletins, on the other hand, provide informative summaries on various economic statistics. 

4. Daily Economic Indicators

Visitors can request daily data to be sent directly to their e-mail, facilitating the monitoring of selected daily statistics. Users can also generate a PDF document with daily data. 

5. SDMX Web Services

This service facilitates communication between systems. It is ideal for technologists and IT teams, as it allows them to implement automated data consumption processes. 

6. Series estadísticas históricas de Colombia

This database was created as part of the celebration of Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia) 100th anniversary. It compiles historical information on Colombia’s economic series using the compilation published by the Bank in 1997 as a basis and complementing it with other sources such as the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE in Spanish), the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, the National Planning Department (DNP in Spanish), and the Financial Superintendency of Colombia, among others. This section has nine categories of historical data: 

  • Monetary and Credit Aggregates
  • Financial Accounts
  • Labor Market
  • Prices and Inflation
  • Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
  • Foreign Reserves
  • Public Sector
  • Exchange Rates and External Sector
  • Benchmark Interest Rates
