10,000 Peso Banknote: Five Identifying Features
On 7 December 2016, Banco de la República started circulating the new $10 thousand-peso banknote, the sixth and last of the new family of banknotes. This banknote will circulate simultaneously with the current one. Red is its predominant color. The obverse features the image of anthropologist Virginia Gutierrez along with the tree frog and the flower of the Victoria Regia. The reverse portrays the landscape of the Amazon region, in which the river, approaching from the horizon, becomes a serpent and the representation of a fisherman in a canoe and some animal species.
