Commemorative Coin for the Bicentenary of the Independence of Cundinamarca
Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia), as per Law 1683 of 28 November 2013, issued a coin to commemorate the bicentenary of Cundinamarca's independence proclaimed on 16 July 1813. On the obverse, the coin exalts Antonio Nariño’s image with the texts “Bicentenario de la Independencia de Cundinamarca-1813-'' (Bicentenary of Cundinamarca’s independence-1813) and “El Triunfo de las ideas” (The triumph of ideas), which corresponds to the message used by the governor’s office of Cundinamarca as the motto for the bicentenary’s commemorative events.
The reverse shows Cundinamarca’s current coat of arms, one of the most representative official symbols of this department, including the text “República de Colombia” (Republic of Colombia), the face value, and the year of issue.
